“First Ride” Speeds Past Rivals to Dominate Box Office While “Chainsaw Man: Legacy” Nears 3 Million Viewers

Sometimes all it takes is one irresistible film to shift the entire weekend box office and this time, Kang Ha-neul, Kim Young-kwang, Cha Eun-woo, and Han Sun-hwa did exactly that. Their new comedy First Ride raced into theaters and straight to No. 1, pulling in an impressive 230,000 viewers in just three days. Directed by Nam Dae-jung, the film captures the hilarious chaos that unfolds when a group of friends bonded for 24 years finally embarks on their first trip abroad together. The chemistry between the cast, the nostalgia of long friendships, and the wild misadventures struck a chord with audiences looking for laughter and heart.

Meanwhile, the explosive run of Chainsaw Man: Legacy Edition continues to turn heads. After ruling the box office for three straight weeks, the film slid to second place but remains a juggernaut, adding another 147,000 viewers and pushing its total to nearly 2.8 million. It’s only a matter of time before it smashes through the 3 million milestone, proving the unstoppable global draw of the Chainsaw Man franchise.

Rounding out the top five, the Japanese horror thriller Exit 8 carved its way to third place with 84,000 viewers, while K-Pop Demon Hunters and the timeless classic Coraline tied for fourth and fifth, each pulling around 39,000 moviegoers.

And the race isn’t slowing down as of Monday morning, Chainsaw Man the Movie: Legacy leads advance ticket sales once again with over 36,000 pre-orders, claiming a 17.8% share. Hot on its heels is the upcoming sci-fi action Predator: Land of the Dead, dropping November 5, with 27,000 early buyers eager to see the Predator Deck team up with humanoid Tia against the terrifying Kalisk. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated musical fantasy Wicked: For Good, set for release on November 19, trails closely with a 13.5% advance sales rate ready to enchant fans once again with Elphaba and Glinda’s untold story of friendship and fate.
