After nearly a decade away from the big screen, actress Han Chae-young is back—and this time, she’s stepping into much darker territory. On the afternoon of the 12th, the cast and crew of Evil City gathered for a press conference at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul, where Han Chae-young joined director Hyun Woo-sung and co-stars Jang Eui-soo and Kim Hye-eun to discuss the film and her long-awaited return.

Han Chae-young introduced her character Yoo-jung with a touch of vulnerability and intrigue:
“Yoo-jung is someone who lives a happy, ordinary life with a job, a daughter, and a husband. But everything begins to unravel when she meets Seon-hee. That encounter flips her entire world upside down.”
This role marks a significant shift for the actress, who last appeared in the comedy The Star Next Door back in 2017. Reflecting on her return to darker material, she shared:
“It’s been eight years since my last film, and 20 years since I’ve tackled a genre this intense—since Wild Card. When I read the script for Evil City, I felt an instant pull. It had been so long since I’d seen something like this land on my desk, I just knew I had to do it.”
What sealed the deal? Her trust in the vision behind the camera.
“The director had such a strong sense of confidence in the project,” she added. “That gave me confidence, too.”
‘Evil City’, slated for release on the 20th, is a psychological thriller that explores the darkest corners of human nature. The film pits hope against manipulation in a deadly triangle between Yoo-jung, who clings to her belief in goodness; Kang-soo (Jang Eui-soo), who rejects all forms of faith; and Seon-hee (Hyun Woo-sung), a master manipulator who uses people as pawns. The story spirals into a chilling conflict where survival comes at the cost of another’s life.
With Evil of City, Han Chae-young is not just returning—she’s reinventing herself.
