Kwon Sang-woo has officially unveiled his latest project a stylish new building in Seoul’s trendy Seongsu-dong, a neighborhood often dubbed the “Brooklyn of Seoul” for its creative energy and cultural charm.
On June 14, the YouTube channel ‘Mrs. New Jersey Son Tae-young’ released a video titled, “The First Thing Kwon Sang-woo Does After Leaving Son Tae-young and Returning to Korea”. In the video, the beloved actor takes viewers on an exclusive tour of his remodeled building in Seongdong-gu, formerly a humble car wash now reimagined as a dynamic venue for pop-up events.
“Seongsu-dong just has that kind of vibe,” Kwon explained when asked why he chose this direction. “Even the bathroom—we paid special attention to the details.”
While the building’s sleek interior hints at Kwon’s attention to design, what really stood out was his vision. When asked about the building’s future, he revealed, “I’ve been getting inquiries. I need to make a decision soon. If this works out, maybe I can spend a little more time in the U.S. with my family.” His comment reflected not just business ambition, but a heartfelt balance between career and family.
Brands in cosmetics and fashion are already showing interest, but Kwon emphasized that he holds the final say. “The decision-making authority is mine,” he said with a smile, making it clear he’s not just lending his name he’s actively leading the project.
As for his acting career, Kwon shared a more personal reflection:
“I can’t do three projects a year like I did when I was younger. I want to focus on one meaningful role at a time. For that, I need financial freedom. That’s why I started this business to be able to choose the work I really believe in.”
The video also warmed hearts with a touching family moment. Son Tae-young, Kwon’s wife, became emotional after receiving a heartfelt letter and flower bouquet from their son, Rook-hee. “As a mom, this is one of those moments you never forget,” she said, clearly moved.
From a business angle, Kwon Sang-woo’s investment is already turning heads. According to real estate insiders, he purchased the 286-pyeong (approx. 945 square meters) factory site in 2015 for 8 billion KRW (approx. $6 million USD). Located in a prime area near Ttukseom Station and Seoul Forest Station, the space has undergone major reconstruction. The property is now reportedly worth over 43 billion KRW (approx. $31 million USD) a testament to both his business acumen and vision.
