Actor Lee Jun-young shares how he bravely chased down a drunk driver and talks Netflix roles, shy love life, and turning down a hero award.

I’d rather crash my own car than let him hurt someone else.” Actor Lee Jun-young’s gripping story about chasing down a drunk driver is winning hearts and headlines.

On the June 17th episode of JTBC’s ‘Let’s Eat Dinner Together’, Lee Jun-young known for his standout roles in Netflix hits like D.P., Masked Girl, Fooled, and Weak Hero Class 2 opened up like never before. From humble reflections on fame to risking his own safety to protect others, his appearance struck a chord with viewers.

Lee, who admitted he’s “very shy in real life,” shared that acting lets him express emotions he normally hides. “When the director says ‘action,’ I feel free like I can legally express everything I’ve held in,” he said with a soft smile. He humbly credited D.P. as the turning point of his career and revealed that filming a rooftop fight scene with Jung Hae-in pushed him to take up mixed martial arts to improve his action skills. “If I can help it, I want to do my own stunts,” he said. “It’s about honesty in performance.”

But it wasn’t just acting that showed his bravery.

In a jaw-dropping moment, Lee shared how he personally tailed a reckless drunk driver for over an hour, ultimately handing him over to the police. “He nearly hit a guardrail twice right in front of me,” Lee recalled. “I honked, but he ignored it. So I called the police, and they asked me to follow him.” With a rare mix of calm and courage, he said, “I figured better my car than someone else’s life.”

Despite public praise, Lee turned down a ‘Model Citizen Award’, stating, “There are plenty of people who are braver. I didn’t do it to look cool or because I’m famous. I just did what felt right.”

And in a sweet twist of vulnerability, Lee admitted he’s never made the first move in love. “People say celebrities hit on them I’ve never done that,” he laughed. “If someone came up to me? Honestly… I’d probably just run away.”

With his quiet strength, sincerity, and deep humility, Lee Jun-young isn’t just a rising star he’s a role model in action.
