They’ve farmed together, shared meals at the same company cafeteria, and even traveled overseas for seminars. Now, they’re turning friendship into fiery rivalry. Lee Kwang-soo and Do Kyung-soo, who first met on tvN’s “It’s Okay, That’s Love” in 2014, are back on screen this time on opposite sides of darkness in Disney+’s The Manipulated (also known as Piece of a City or Sculpture City).
Do Kyung-soo transforms into Ahn Yo-han, a chilling psychopath who manipulates lives for wealth and power, while Lee Kwang-soo becomes Baek Do-kyung, a powerful client holding the secret to the case that destroyed Ahn Yo-han’s world. It’s a ruthless psychological duel two friends now locked in a game of who can outdo the other in wickedness.
Lee Kwang-soo, long hailed as Korea’s comedic gem, proves again that his charisma stretches far beyond laughter. His chemistry with Do Kyung-soo brings a strange thrill one built on comfort, history, and sharp contrasts. At the drama’s press conference held at the Conrad Seoul Hotel on November 3, Lee confessed, “When I first read Baek Do-kyung, I hated him so much I wanted to spit. I wanted viewers to feel that same anger.”
When asked to describe his co-star, Do Kyung-soo teased, “He’s very opinionated and loves to make things difficult for his younger brother.” Without missing a beat, Lee shot back, “You punk,” glaring playfully as laughter filled the room a moment that perfectly sums up their friendship: raw, real, and irresistibly entertaining.
