Ma Dong-seok Joins ‘Iron Girl 2’ as Boxing Coach | tvN

When a real-life action star enters the ring with up-and-coming actresses, the fists don’t pack the only punch—Iron Girl 2 is back at tvN and tougher, harsher-around-the-edges, and more inspiring than when this drama started out.

Daring to debut at 8:40 p.m. on July 11, Iron Girl 2 (directed by Bang Geul-i) brings together giants Yoo-i, Geum Sae-rok, Park Joo-hyun, and Seol In-ah in a raw, unbridled battle to the top in the ring. Having weathered last season’s brutal triathlon, this season the gloves are on—literally. Dripping with sweat, discipline, and drive with every jab, the show gives us front-row seats to its raw empowerment metamorphosis journey.

And now these women have Ma Dong-seok—also known as Korea’s real-life Hulk—in their corner. A long-time boxing fan and gym owner, Ma arrives at the show as a do-it-all coach to uncover the total fighting potential in the women through one-on-one training.

In a recently debuted promo video, Ma Dong-seok was seen pushing Geum Sae-rok and Seol In-ah through demanding drills, offering precise comments from footwork to breathing rhythm. At one point he tells Geum, “It has to have a relaxed and slammed feel,” and she shifts her stance mid-round just to let out a yelp, “It hurts,” when the bell rings, drawing both laughter and applause for toughness.

Meanwhile, Seol In-ah’s attacks pack more force and acuity through Ma’s one-rule instruction: “Don’t lean your arm twist your torso and hit.” Renowned for her unsurpassed athleticism in Season 1, her newfound power is already making waves.

Under the merciless but brilliant training schedule devised by Ma Dong-seok, tension is acutely in evidence and so is anticipation. Will these steel-minded women be up to the task? Iron Girl 2 could be the most thrilling season yet.

Watch the premiere on July 11 at 8:40 p.m. via tvN!
